Art lessons

Just over a month ago, I was approached by Sydney's teacher at school. Mr. Keyes is a successful, local artist who works with Sydney's teacher's class year after year on mural art projects which hang on the walls at school. They have been pretty impressive so far. Anyways, Sydney had drawn the Eiffel Tower and showed it to him one day at school. He bee-lined it straight to the teacher telling her he just had to work with this student! So, free of charge, he is giving her art lessons weekly and she loves it! They have done still life, perspectives, water colors, pastels... He is also taking one of the books she has written and having her add illustrations to it. This man is incredibly nice and so good to Sydney. He told us he was mentored when he was a young boy and loves helping and teaching others. So nice!

Field Trip to the Farm

Looking at these photos you wouldn't guess we were at a farm... Bryant's preschool had a field trip to a farm outside of old Issaquah, I think it was called Hollow Creek. Anyways, it did have animals but Bry never got close enough for a photo with any. He was a little nervous about it all. He loved basketball and made a ton of shots and impressed all the parents!
He and his friend and his sister had fun trying to not hit each other while throwing rocks into the creek.
I must say that this John Deer truck was the hit of the farm for a lot of kids and Bry took several turns.
In the barn upstairs in the hayloft were two rope swings and this was also a favorite.
Look at my strong little boy! All tucked up and holding on great. All the other kids were straight armed and straight bodied, hanging on for dear life! Bryant's little body is so built for athletics, all muscle! I can hardly wait to see him participate in sports as he grows up. We had a good time and the weather was nice and sunny, we lucked out!

Science Fair Project

This is a photo of Taylor's science fair project on the first attempt...she had done it all on her own while I was gone and she had all kinds of spelling errors. So she fixed all the spelling and capitalization errors and I forgot to take a photo of the finished product! I must say she chose a topic that is so original...not! I think this is the most popular with all the students. I'll have to ask her how many did the same experiment and get back to you. Anyways, she and her father had fun conducting the experiment last weekend.
Taylor had left out a few of her supplies and Bryant found the tape dispenser, the one I use when scrapbooking...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day...
This question was asked to the audience on the Bob River's Show on KZOK 102.5

In celebrating St. Patrick's day, what do Americans do that the Irish in Ireland don't?

Leave me a comment with your guess. I'm no longer crafty, so no prize. This is just for fun! :) Answer tomorrow.

Finally ready...to write!

Last week I bought Bryant this wipe board/chalkboard easel and he loves it! He is working on his letters and his name. I know, I know... but, he just wasn't interested and wouldn't give me the time to work on it with him before now. He turns five in April and is very smart, just hasn't been interested in learning. So now we are working on it everyday to be ready for kindergarten in the fall. I love his cute little B's...

Snickerdoodles...

Last night I made Snickerdoodle cookies and left out the cinnamon sugar mixture on the counter... This photo is a reenactment. I was washing dishes and had turned around to see why he was standing behind me for so long and saw that he was shoveling the sugar into his mouth! GREAT!

Tetherball

Last year Taylor received a tetherball and pole that stuck in the ground. The thing is, is that you had to have a lot of force to get it stuck in good enough to not fling out when you hit the ball. So we were lucky enough when someone gave us this tire that just happened to have a pole in it too! The other good thing is that Taylor needs someone to play with and so she can't hog it all to herself!
